NOKIA: Android or Windows

The will it? Won’t it? Question has been answered by Nokia as it has incorporated android as its operating system in its upcoming model Nokia X A110 or colloquially referred as Nokia’s Android.

The name of this model suggests that it will be different from the LUMIA series also providing a customer benefit of keeping the two OS’s separate. This model is speculated to hit the shelves sometime in Q2-Q3 with an android 4.4.2 a.k.a KitKat out of the box. The model is also speculated to have a processor of something around Adreno 203 with a dual core 1 GHz CPU although the exact specifications are still unknown. It will also have a 512MB RAM, 4GB of storage, a 5MP rear camera as well as a 1500mAh battery.

The presence of the secondary camera is still unsure but the option of expanding memory using memory card of up to 32GB is present. Very little knowledge pertaining to the screen is known but it is speculated that the screen will be around 4” with 245ppi pixel density. The phone is also speculated to have a Dual Sim variant. The probability of Nokia’s Android to have a forked version of the OS is high as it would allow better integration of Nokia apps with android. An article published by Wall Street Journal contributes to this fact and also claims that the phone will not have access to the regular Google Play store but would rather come with a number of Nokia and Microsoft developed apps. Some of these apps would include Nokia Here Maps, Mix Radio and Skype and also would feature other popular mobile apps like what’s app Facebook, Twitter and so on.

Yet another drawback confirmed is that this model will not come in 4G version and thus will lead something to be desired from the future Nokia Androids. Although the possibility that Nokia would unveil this giant in the upcoming MWC to be held in Barcelona on 24th Feb. is high still there is a chance that the mobile will be unboxed at a later date as it is not a flagship mobile and would also be priced in a lower bracket. Hopefully the Nokia Android meets the eager expectations that await its arrival.
